1 - How to choose a tennis club when you are new to tennis? How much does the membership card cost?

The membership card fee is often synonymous with the quality of the club. 

A small club can offer you a membership card for 50 dollars and will certainly have advantages but also disadvantages. The big, well-known resort in the city will offer you a much more expensive membership card. Count between 300 and 500 dollars to be a member but you will have all the services that a small club does not offer. 

But you must not forget that you are a beginner in tennis and that the main thing is to play tennis, not to say that you are a member of the most exclusive club in the city when in fact you are never going play it. 

The best solution is to rent several times a short time and observe how the club works. Try to rent a court in other clubs to see the services offered. Then, you can make the right decision.

 

Is the tennis coach available according to your schedule?

2 - How to choose your equipment when you are new to tennis?

- The tennis racket 

Although the rates are very interesting at Decathlon, you must know that there are tennis shops all over the big cities now. And your club certainly works with one of them ... You have pros who know exactly what racket you need and very often, you can even try several rackets before making your choice. 

When taking your first private lesson, ask your coach to lend you a racket and ask him / her to advise you on a racket adapted to your style of play, your level and your budget. Count between 100 and 200 dollars for a good racket. Below 100 dollars, there are some correct rackets, but nothing excellent. 

Most coach recommend a racket that weighs between 250 and 275 grams. Women must have a much lighter racket than men.

- Balls 

Depending on your level, know that there are three types of balls:

The Soft ball is a soft ball (orange or red) that will make each of your strikes comfortable but it will promote the exchange. Since it's a softball, it will not bounce high after bounce so you'll have a ball that's easier to control.

The Mid ball or also called the Green Dot Ball is actually an intermediary between the softball and the normal tennis ball. We often tend to think that it is reductive to play with soft balls while it is hyper pedagogical and progress is quickly there! Ideally, start with a softball, then after a few sessions where you are able to perform more than 30 exchanges with your partner, go to the mid balls and finally, take the normal tennis balls.

3 - How to find tennis partners when you are new to tennis?

You are a member, you have a coach. Well now you will have to find tennis partners to play simply ... Maybe you started tennis with a friend, but you will have to play with several different partners if you want to progress to tennis.

Ask your coach to find you some partners of your level. You take him private lessons, he can not refuse this request that is an integral part of his job anyway.

Then when you are introduced to a partner, take his phone number to contact him again. Take the time to have a drink with him at the club and chat a little. With luck he will give you some phone numbers from other partners

4 - Which program to follow to progress to tennis quickly when you are a beginner in tennis?

You must play often to progress. 

Playing once or twice a week, you will have fun but you will not make real progress tennis. the worst is that you will acquire bad gestures and you will simply limit yourself.

As i recommended above, take private lessons. At first, take in 2 per week, then after your first tennis progress, reduce and go to one per week.

Then you have to participate in collective training for two reasons:

- You will meet new partners of your level.

- You will do new exercises specific to the collective.

In a particular class you will work on your gestures, your technique to do things correctly. But the downside of a particular short is that your tennis coach sends you perfect balls. And it's not good for your tennis because when you play with a partner of your level that will send you balls in all directions, you will be lost on the court.

Group training allows you to work on your adaptation with several different partners. It is the best. And in addition, you will find more tactical, physical and mental exercises.

Ideally, play one more time in the week without a coach, with a partner to make balls and thus apply the advice that your coach shared with you or simply make a match.
